Illinios Audubon Society Zooms in on Indiana Bats, Spotted Dusky Salamanders and Grassland Species
Recent land protection purchases will protect
Indiana bat (federally endangered) hibernacula within the Shawnee Forest, more than
30 threatened and endangered species occurring at Prairie Ridge State Natural Area and
habitat for the spotted dusky salamander, a small and rare amphibian that prefers inhabiting the spring seep area between the clay and gravel iinterface in wooded areas.
Preserving areas like these are possible through our partnership with the Department of Natural Resources. Funding has been provided by grants from Grand Victoria and Illinois Clean Energy and as always, from our wonderful, caring donors who help us provide timely and effective conservation of our precious natural resources.
